Meet Hannah
The teacher-turned-organizer who knows how to juggle it all
I’ve always been someone who thrived on organization, even if I wasn’t always the tidiest. As a kid, I would dive into sorting my trick-or-treat candy in a caboodle, trading with my siblings, and saving the best for last. I loved organizing my Lego pieces by size and color, and making our back-to-school shopping list was one of my favorite rituals—checking things off and arranging everything neatly when we got home.
As I grew, I channeled this love for order into my career as a physical education and health teacher. Suddenly, I was managing all sorts of equipment and materials. I took pride in labeling storage bins, setting clear systems, and creating expectations for maintaining order. I quickly noticed that many of my fellow teachers were working around piles of outdated materials. I didn’t just sit back; I helped them clear the clutter, purge what no longer served them, and reorganize what they truly needed. It was especially rewarding when our school moved to a smaller building, and I was able to streamline the process and help everyone breathe a little easier.
As a step-parent to three incredibly active kids, I quickly discovered that organization isn’t just helpful. It’s survival. Between their sports schedules, friend activities, school events, and my own commitments, our family calendar looks like a game of Tetris most days.
But here’s what I learned from managing 50+ kids and mountains of snow & bike gear on school trips I ran: the best systems are the ones people can actually use themselves. At home, instead of doing everything for everyone (yikes!), I started treating my kids like my students. I created clear systems, taught them how to use them, held them accountable, and celebrated their successes.
That’s exactly how I work with my clients too. I don’t just make your entryway look nice and walk away. I create clear places for everyone’s shoes, bags, and coats so your whole family can maintain it themselves. Because the goal isn’t just an organized space. It’s a family that knows how to keep it that way.
That’s when Declutter Kitsap was born. I knew I could help other busy families get back to more fun, more family, and more life.
